It's Pitch O'Clock

It looks like November is going to be full of pitches for me.

So far I have completed a pitch for a yell.com online advertisement (below), and I will be pitching to Sony for a Little Big Planet 2 ad/promo later today.

The concept is extremely exciting, a stop frame based animation of gaming through the ages, with a wild soundtrack which evolves over 90 seconds from 8 bit to modern day gaming, passing through Battlezone, Street Fighter, Micro Machines, Tomb Raider and many more style of track.  The audio is crazy sounding and I will post it up once I know the outcome of the pitch.

These pitches have been done in collaboration with the fantastic guys at www.thesoundworks.co.uk

Brief required up front, beat driven track with crunchy guitars.

Max for Live Device

Two posts in a day, it's been a while since that happened.

So I have just built a new Max for Live device.

The device allows you to control any element of live from a PS3 Controller.  For mac primarily as it's really simple to connect your controller via some sneaky bluetooth.

Super simple patch that uses the 'hi' object so you could alter it to be used with any human interface device.   Currently only maps x-y axis for left and right analogue, R1, R2, L1 and L2.  All the info for mapping the rest of the controls is in that patch.

Go here for more info and to download the patch http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=419
Thanks to Amounra for the main graft on the build.

Short Film Time

I have just agreed to sound design a short film staring Joe Gilgun of ' This is England ' fame.

The film is a black comedy about a couple of homeless guys, who take an abandoned cooker on a road trip.

I will be working with Leeds based production company Belly Productions and award winning producer Nicola Bowen.

Keep your eyes on this blog for more details.

Long time no blog....

A month to the day since my last blog.

The remix is completed and I have also done another remix for 'Curfew' which will be on the forthcoming release.

I have also spent the last couple of days scoring a corporate film.

In amongst all this I have squeezed in a holiday and I have taken over the running of a record label Medellin Music http://www.medellinmusic.co.uk.

Busy times.

Invisible Bullets

I've just been over to Bolton to pick up the final cut of 'Invisible Bullets' the short I'm composing on for Virgin Media.
It's looking pretty slick but the race is on to get everything finished for the 27th.  It still needs the score, grading and the final polish on the mix which will be done at SSR in Manchester.

Keep your eyes on the official blog for the production here http://invisiblebullets.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Electrosting

Day one of my new E-Commerce business 'Electrosting'.

We are offering a new benchmark in flexibility for royalty free electro music.  From down tempo glitch to Psy Trance (excluding gabba of course).  Currently we are creating content and developing the back end of the website, but this is the concept:
Log onto the site, the available music will be split into categories defined by feel rather than bpm or genre.
In each category you will find various packs for download.  You can listen to a short demo of what can be created from each pack.  If it's what your after stick it in the cart and buy it.

What you get:
In each pack you get all the elements of the demo split into individual tracks. Drums, Bass, Synths, FX etc....  All perfect loops ready to be dropped into your project, you can have 30 seconds of full on electro for your sting or a more progressive building track for a short.

Packs will be broadcast quality available in:

44.1khz 24bit .wav/aif/rex
320kbs .mp3

100% copyright free guaranteed, once purchased you can use the pack in as many projects as you wish.

If you feel you can bring something to this business please get in contact at contact@electrosting.co.uk
We would especially like to hear from marketing folk or anyone who would just like to give us some money.

New Max for Live Device

Here's a link to my latest M4L device http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=294

It's a mixer for the arrangement view, works as a good quick reference for levels saving flicking back and forth between arrangement and session views.

Makes use of the Max For Live API Abstractions allowing you to control your tracks direct from the mixer.

Updates to follow.

The Fastest Clock In The Universe

I will be the Sound Designer and Composer for 'The Fastest Clock In The Universe' written by Philip Ridley and directed by Alexandra Anderson-Dyer.

The play is very dark, set in a flat above a disused mink factory and contains strong themes of violence and molestation.  A serious opportunity for some really out there sound design.

The production will be showing 12-13 June at the BAC London.  More info to follow
